Best Upholstery Fabrics for Dubai's Climate (2026 Guide)
Which upholstery fabrics survive Dubai heat, humidity and sun? Compare velvet, linen, chenille, leather and performance fabrics for UAE homes and majlis.
Choosing upholstery fabric in Dubai is different from choosing it in Europe or Asia. Between summer humidity, strong UV through floor-to-ceiling windows, and heavy majlis usage, fabric has to work harder here. 1. Chenille — the safest all-round choice

2. Performance fabrics (Sunbrella, Crypton, Aquaclean)
For homes with kids, majlis with karak spills, and anything near a window, performance fabrics are unbeatable. They are stain-resistant, UV-stable, and can usually be wiped clean with water.
3. Velvet — beautiful, but choose carefully
Cotton velvet crushes and marks quickly in humid Dubai apartments. Choose polyester or viscose velvet instead — they hold their pile, resist water and give the same luxe look for majlis and formal living rooms.
4. Linen and linen blends
Pure linen wrinkles heavily and shows every stain. A linen-polyester blend is the sweet spot: natural texture with much better stain and wrinkle resistance.
5. Leather — full-grain vs bonded
Full-grain and top-grain leather age beautifully in Dubai if kept out of direct sun. Avoid bonded leather — it peels within 2 to 3 years in UAE heat.
